Our Beliefs

We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God in its original writing (2 Timothy 3:16).

We believe that by the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord through the Holy Scriptures, His divine power gives us all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:2-3).

We believe in the triune God - one God in three Persons - Father, Son, Holy Ghost (2 Corinthians 13:14).

We believe that all people have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

We believe there is one way, as sinners, to be reconciled to God - through repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (Acts 3:19, 4:10-12).

We believe that Jesus Christ took on human flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to atone for our sins, was buried and rose again three days later (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). After His resurrection, He ascended back to God the Father (Acts 1:9) where He intercedes for believers (Hebrews 4:14-16) and is an advocate when we sin (1 John 2:1).

We believe Christ will return to earth one day as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Revelation 19:16).

We believe the Holy Ghost seals believers (Ephesians 1:13-14) and equips believers with gifts to glorify God and to edify the church (1 Corinthians 12:4).

We believe it is the responsibility of the church to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the world (Matthew 28:19-20), live in obedience to the Word and in holiness (1 Peter 1:15), and to bring glory and honor to God (Psalm 150:2).

Calvary Baptist Church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention; however, final authority comes from the Word of God, not from any denomination.

Creator

"He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him."
     - Colossians 1:15-16

Law Giver

"Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith."
     - Galatians 3:24

Immanuel

"'Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,' which is translated, 'God with us.'"
     - Matthew 1:23

Savior

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,"
     - 1 Peter 3:18

Lord

"Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."
     - Revelation 19:11, 16
