Meet Our Pastor

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."  -Philippians 1:2

Greetings in the name of Christ! My name is Kerry Mitchell, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. Thank you for visiting the church website.

Although I was brought up in church from childhood, I didn't genuinely receive Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord until the fall of 2000. Afterwards, I served as youth director for about three and one-half years at my home church, Pine Grove Baptist Church in Brent, Alabama. In May 2004, my wife Elizabeth and I felt the Lord's call to the Vineyard Christian Retreat Center in Ariton, Alabama. The Vineyard is the campground and retreat center for the Coffee County Baptist Association. For about three years we hosted and ministered to church groups seeking to have a closer relationship with the Lord. After being licensed and ordained into the gospel ministry, I began serving as pastor of Calvary in March 2007.

I believe that salvation comes through repentance of sin and receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. There is no other way. After receiving Christ by God's grace through faith, we are responsible for living in obedience to God's Word, resulting in holiness. I believe scripture teaches that the church, the body of Christ, should be biblical, prayerful, worshipful, and giving. That is our aim at Calvary. If you are not a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will reveal your need for forgiveness of sin and salvation through the Lord Jesus. After receiving Christ, find a Bible-believing church to join in fellowship - please consider Calvary Baptist Church! If you are a believer seeking a church home, I invite you to join us at Calvary.

In Christ,

"Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith."

     - 1 Peter 3:18

"Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."
